Welcome to Folsom HOG, our Road Captains put on many rides to a variety of destinations.
Some Road captains prefer shorter rides while others prefer all day rides. We even have a few
Road captains that love to plan weekend get-a-ways requiring extensive planning and setting up
hotel block reservations. We are always willing to work with someone if they have a destination
(restaurant, park, or other local) or route they would like to suggest. New places to ride are
always fun for everyone.
As our chapter continues to grow, so does our need for experienced Road Captains, new Road
Captains bring fresh ideas and new places to visit. Becoming a Road Captain does not take an
extraordinary amount of time. It is a very positive and rewarding way to contribute to the fun
and enjoyment of Chapter rides.
Here is how the process works... To get the ball rolling, find an available date on the calendar
and think of somewhere you’d like to take a group; It doesn’t have to be very far. Once you have
a date and location in mind, send any Road Captain your ideas either via email or phone. If you are still
struggling with where you want to go, we can chat and see what works best for you. At this point
we will talk and assign a Road Captain as a mentor to help you become a Road Captain.
Next you will need to lay out a route that is safe and has ample comfort breaks. Your mentor
Road Captain will help with you on the route if needed. We ask that you pre-ride the route to
ensure your route directions and to check on the road conditions. Your mentor Road Captain will
need to pre-ride the route with you.

On the day of the ride, we ask that you bring a sign in sheet and be prepared to offer a pre-ride meeting that describes the route, where we’re going to stop and any special conditions we may encounter on the ride. In addition, at these meetings we always review safety items and proper hand signals. Your mentor road captain will help you through this process).
If you are interested in contributing to the Chapter in this way, please contact the Head Road Captain. We especially wish to encourage our women riders to come join us.For those who are current Road Captains, we ask that you plan and lead at least 2 rides (preferably five (5) or more), following the guidelines above, per year to maintain the position. Lastly, rest assured that we can help you with all aspects of becoming a Road Captain. isn’t difficult, it just requires a little extra time and dedication.
